Does the GTA 6 physical copy have a disc? Code-in-box explained

No game disc is included in GTA 6's announced physical version. Take-Two and Rockstar Support say the retail box contains a download code. The code-in-box version becomes available November 12 so buyers can redeem it and preload before the November 19 launch.
What code-in-box means
The retail product gives you packaging and a platform download code rather than data on a Blu-ray disc. You redeem that code through the appropriate console account, then download the game from the platform network.
This is not the same as a traditional physical release that installs from a reusable disc. A boxed copy still needs storage space and a network connection for the initial download.
Can the physical copy be lent or resold?
A redeemed download code normally cannot be used by a second account, so the game cannot be passed around in the way a playable disc can. Rockstar's announcement confirms the code format but does not publish a special transfer or resale system.
An unopened box with an unused code may be subject to a retailer's policies. After redemption, assume the license is tied to the redeeming platform account unless the official terms explicitly say otherwise.
How physical preload works
The code-in-box version is expected at retailers from November 12, the same day digital preload begins. Receiving and redeeming the code early lets the console download files before launch; it does not unlock the game before November 19.
Shipping and pickup timing are retailer-dependent. Ordering a box does not guarantee that its code arrives at the first minute of preload.
