The official GTA 6 release date
Rockstar Games lists November 19, 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. Take-Two repeated that date in its August 7, 2026 fiscal first-quarter results, making this more than an old store listing or an unverified retailer date.
The announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Neither Rockstar's game page nor Take-Two's current release slate lists PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2.
GTA 6 preload date and physical copies
Rockstar Support says digital preload starts at local midnight on November 12, one week before launch. Its current support article also says the physical version contains a download code rather than a disc and is expected at retailers from November 12 so buyers can preload.
That detail matters if you have slow internet or planned to buy a disc. A boxed copy is not necessarily an offline install: check the retailer description and Rockstar's support page before ordering because packaging and regional terms can change.
Could the date change again?
Any unreleased game can move, but there is no official evidence of another delay as of this page's August 19 update. The best signal is Rockstar's live game page, followed by Take-Two's latest investor release. Social posts, anonymous screenshots and retailer placeholders are not equivalent evidence.
